The program starts both in September and February of each year.
 
All courses are taught in English; therefore, an Upper-B2 level English proficiency is required.
 

Admission requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.

 
This is a 2-year program consisting of 4 academic semesters.
 
Students earn 120 ECTS in total.
 
The tuition fee for this program is 7,500 USD/Year.

What to expect during the program?

The aim of this study program is the advanced training of chemists possessing theoretical and practical knowledge in chemistry as well as satisfactory basic knowledge in related fields of science such as mathematics, physics, informatics, biology, and environmental protection. Degree holders will have the ability and practical skills to solve chemical problems arising in industrial or laboratory applications, to actively join research and development projects in different fields of chemistry, and to undertake further studies in advanced chemistry and chemical research with a sufficient degree of autonomy.

The Chemistry MSc program offers three distinct specializations: Synthetic Chemistry, which focuses on the design and construction of complex molecular structures; Analytical Chemistry, which centers on the identification and quantification of matter; and Radiochemistry, which explores the chemical properties and applications of radioactive substances.

Yes, students should complete a 6-week field practice.

 

What are the career prospects after graduating?

Graduates with a Master's degree in Chemistry will find themselves qualified for entry-level positions as clinical laboratory technologists, chemists, or materials scientists.

 

 

How can I enroll in the program?

The admission process is conducted entirely online, featuring an entrance interview designed to evaluate subject-specific knowledge and personal motivation. What are the language requirements for Chemistry, MSc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least Upper-Intermediate / B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 547 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.0.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Chemistry, MSc?

Students applying to our graduate programs will participate in an interview where we assess their motivation, personal skills, and English proficiency.

Until when can I apply for the program?

Please note that the MSc in Chemistry operates on a double-intake academic calendar. This program starts both in September and February of each year. The application deadline in the self-financed procedure is 15th June for the September intake, and 15th November for the February intake.

How much does it cost to study Chemistry, MSc at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 7,500 USD / year for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
