Program Overview

 
The program starts in September of each year.
 
All courses are taught in English; therefore, a B2 level English proficiency is required (CEFR level B2, assessed at the compulsory entrance interview).
 

Admission requires a relevant BSc degree and passing a compulsory entrance interview.

 
This is a 1.5-year program consisting of 3 academic semesters.
 
Students earn 120 ECTS in total.
 
The tuition fee for this program is 8,000 USD/year (4,000 USD/semester).

What to expect during the program?

The aim of the MSc program in Public Health is to train specialists capable of monitoring public health problems as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating possible solutions. The objective of the course is to equip graduates with knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Monitoring the health status of populations;
  • Analysing the factors influencing the health status of populations;
  • Exploring and prioritising health needs and demands;
  • Drafting local, regional, and national health policy aimed at solving public health concerns;
  • Planning and organising services to promote health and prevent and treat diseases based on the needs of the target population;
  • Implementing and managing health-promoting and disease-prevention tactics;
  • Analysing and evaluating the effectiveness of those services and interventions.

Is there an internship incorporated into the program?

Yes, students should complete a 4-week field practice.

What are the language requirements for Public Health, MSc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least Upper-Intermediate / B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 547 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.0.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Public Health, MSc?

Students applying to our graduate programs will participate in an interview where we assess their motivation, personal skills, and English proficiency.

Until when can I apply for the program?

Please note that the MSc in Public Health operates on a single-intake academic calendar. This program starts in September of each year. The application deadline in the self-financed procedure is 15th June for the September intake.

How much does it cost to study Public Health, MSc at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 8,000 USD / year (4,000 USD / semester) for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
