The program starts in September of each year.
 
All courses are taught in English; therefore, an Upper-B2 level English proficiency is required.
 

Admission requires a Bachelor's diploma in biological/life sciences or in a related discipline of natural sciences.

 
This is a 2-year program consisting of 4 academic semesters.
 
Students earn 120 ECTS in total.
 
The tuition fee for this program is 7,500 USD/Year.

What to expect during the program?

The Biology, MSc course trains the researchers of the future in the fields of genetics, plant biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, and zoology. Students will learn specialised knowledge in biology and ecology; how to plan and carry out research projects, collect and analyse data, write up and publish results; and conduct their own small-scale research projects under the supervision of world-renowned experts in biology and ecology.

This Master of Science program offers two distinct academic tracks: General Biology, which provides a comprehensive foundation across diverse biological systems, and Numerical Biology, which focuses on the application of quantitative methods and computational modeling to biological research.

What are the language requirements for Biology, MSc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least Upper-Intermediate / B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 547 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.0.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Biology, MSc?

Students applying to our graduate programs will participate in an interview where we assess their motivation, personal skills, and English proficiency.

Please note that the MSc in Biology operates on a single-intake academic calendar. This program starts in September of each year. The application deadline in the self-financed procedure is 15th June for the September intake.

How much does it cost to study Biology, MSc at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 7,500 USD / year for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
